Blues: Question and Answer

One of the most important elements of the blues is the dialogue between the phrases of a melody.

This effect derives precisely from the “responsorial” character of the original blues: already in the “work songs”, the group responded to a choir leader.

In acoustic blues this element becomes even more central because, as soloists, we are forced to manage many more elements simultaneously than in the context of a band.

In today’s simple example I wanna share some ideas starting from a study to coordinate the phrases in the twelve-bar blues structure.
